Let’s Flick Click Bait in Aussie Sport.

So the Wallabies got their arse kicked by Eddie Jones the Socceroos are in the 16 but to be honest we need a miracle to progress yet no one is asking if not only the international codes but all 4 majors are in good hands for the codes future NOT the medias

If you stop and look at all our football codes the first thing you will find we are following the yank franchise system with the media conglomerates taking the cream and the codes getting the crumbs.

That’s not rocket science because on every single board the media has its representation at the highest level. It has its employees mainly ex legends in their own mind commentary positions all on the payroll looking after their interests and when a Coach or Board member endangers their access the attacks begin.

To be quite honest The AFL and NRL are dead in the water as they are just a travelling circus of coach rotation, official rotation and a massive click bait income advertising stream for Murdock and it won’t change as management base is kept narrow and under control. The NRL handed over the peoples game years ago to the corporates and the AFL is a lone entity with a good fan base but no international standing so easily controlled.. The circuses and the tents are all in place and the people are just accessories to the TV rights.

Now moving to the international codes and this is where the game gets dirty.

Outside international organisations like FIFA and World Rugby are a thereat to the power brokers and any interference is like challenging the mafia. CEOs , coaches managers all will be incur the wrath of the Old Boy network and the following names are some who dared to change the structures or shift access away from the nepotistic inbred culture.

People, professionals with vision railroaded out of the sport because they dared to restrict insider access to international dressing sheds, selection processes IE RaeLine Castle Rugby CEO, (Pictured) railroaded by media, Robbie Deans designated as a traitor, Ange Postacoglis far to smart for the board , media harassment, Ewan McKenzie dared to discipline the medias super stars, railroaded, Eddie Jones branded traitor, Holger Osijek just give up on the unprofessional attitude towards international protocols. And Pim Verbeek (Deceased) because we don’t play like the Dutch., each and every one went on to exceed in their professional lives in far higher levels after leaving but not good enough for our media or Board Rooms who preside and presided over falling world standard positions.

They hold their jobs, and anyone who threatens, the dogs are realised.

So, no good just bitching about it, what’s the solution???

My vision is based on the fans being the major shareholders in the businesses. Board appointees under National Oversight with grass root involvement. Coaching positions called internationally, appointed by internationally qualified panels not necessarily involved with domestic contacts. The system of Franchise ownerships must be dismantled and promotion and relegation structures installed with a ownership ratio of 60/40 Australian to start with with minimal of 55% after bedding in.

This cannot happen within a World Cup window so we have to be prepared to bypass a Cup give it a 8 year span to totally restructure.

The Media will be on invitation only with NO representation in any form on management roles and other platforms ,ie Streaming , invited to bid for rights nationally and internationally opening us up to real time dimensions.

Our Aleague must have regulations in regard local talent and cease it from being a exit lounge for aged players, same with Rugby Pacifica taking on the NZ county model.

Let’s call it, we might not be going backwards much but the rest of the world is booming forward and we are well off the wave.

Bite the bullet now, and start the 8 year cycle, explain it to the masses, get them in as shareholders, educate the importance of International competition and benchmarks and our kids worlds will be widened, our knowledge base expanded and don’t allow self interest dominate our passions.

Our Socceroos in Age Care Culture

Well the question all of us old players and coaches and supporters is “How Many Times do we Have TO FAIL before we clean out the cupboard of the Nepotistic INBred Culture of Australian Football” ???

Every World Cup campaign we get the lets try and make the last 16, and now we were back to Shit we may not even get to the next round..

Oh sorry, Im not the greatest credentialed voice but I have a some experience of coaching with Internationals both men and women and make no claims of contributing to their success.

So, lets look at our present squad and we’ll find that their applications for redundancy have been deferred with a age profile of 27.9 years relying on 17 players who play overseas and the rest from our A League which is a rest home for players who cannot get a contract overseas but keep the youth out from that level and out of the national light.

NO PROBLEM HERE they say we’re lifting the standard and the all important old boys cartel taking the pay cheques even when they are strolling their stuff in 3rd gear there in a no promotion or relegation league and their jobs safe until they retire on their terms. The youth can wait their turn fully supported as if it was their superannuation right.

Our youngest national player ONE OFF is 20 in 2022 campaign so add 4 years till the next cup and our present team the majority will be up for filling more spots in the nursing home of A league …

Sorry again I’m being over critical here NO IM NOT. IT has to be questioned, as our game could be much better and we owe it to our youth.

So our coaching culture was well and truly on show against Oman with our national coach turning our looking like he’d been on the piss and slept in his clothes, making a mistake and putting his pumps on instead of the 6 plugger thongs.

What a total disgrace and dissrespect to our National Emblem but NONE of the Cartel thought enough about it to comment.

That Just Demonstrates the Culture of Cover My Arse and I’ll Cover Yours” that exists across the code and the media apologists so they can gain the keys to the inner sanctum.

No Problem Here, and if their is any rumours of bringing in a coaching team totally independent from a successful country that has performed on the world stage into the country a media campaign will be launched to discredit the appointed…

SOUND FAMILIAR?????

Yes I believe we have a corrupted institution that needs a root and branch clean out for the sake of every single kid in our nation with dreams of putting on the gold strip.

WE owe them that and the Women’s game too should not be left out of a health check.

And by the way our assistant coach from The Netherlands appeared and who knows how his appointment was advertised or confirmed? I’ll stand corrected but its the first I’ve seen him on the payroll. ?????

Look their is no easy answer from this situation we have found our self in,but to gain we have to have pain, and we must start and look at a 8 year plan to qualify and make us a solid respected world contender and to do that it must start at genuine path roads with a culture at the top that after every World Cup every position is declared vacant, no reputations or backdoor deals applying, with a national approach looking at least 4 to 6 year in advance. Strong emphasis on the 16 to 19 year old international competitions PRIORITISED and funded comprehensively and until that pathway is cemented into an entry point including those who have secured contracts overseas within the Under 22 limit.

Yes until they build and have continual feeder opportunities we will get belted but if we embrace overseas experience our road not as rough.

I have one other issue that some will find uncomfortable but for too long our game has been based modelled on the English version of success and we must embrace the full European Football phycology inclusion fan wise and not ownership via the money launderers that destroy grass root say in management otherwise all efforts of bottom up growth will never eventuate and will be stymied by the Football Mafia of billionaires.

America Fails Female Equality Test. L.F.G.

While biding time pre the Matilda v USA Women match we decided to watch a documentary called L.F.G. On the claim for equal pay for American World Champions.

Let’s be totally upfront here, I’m not a America fan, probably instilled by my forefathers view on their involvement in both world wars and their performances since, BUT after seeing this film my opinion of their culture has sunk to a all time low.

The Matilda’s had to fight hard to achieve parity in and as a former trade unionist I wholly appreciate any battle for equality and in sure the majority of Australian people agree, however I never thought women could be regarded as inferior in not only skills but in their physical and mental makeup and that argument used in American court of law.

For that to happen and tolerated their has to be some flaw in not the female anatomy but the entire system of which these people live by and accepted as “normal and acceptable”.

No doubt it’s a total misogynistic system which only exists is for monetary gain which is the Great American Dream of individual capitalism till you reach a level of corporate capitalism and everything else, ethics and compassion, is collateral damage.

This example of the simple rights of a group of women who have outperformed their male counterparts at every single level of the sport yet get about a third reimbursement if their lucky, while the men are flat out finding their way out of the dressing sheds come the big gig ,World Cup time.

It sickens me and my wife that the men all men who are involved in sport can think this is “normal” in America and not have the guts to stand up.

What a pathetic race! “Big toys and little balls, thats the yanks”, was the saying and nothing has changed since 40’s apparently.

I understand the Law system is peculiar to America, yep I understand that. Where child marriage is still tolerated and practiced and accepted as normal says a lot for that system where you can justify anything as long as you have money to buy the outcome you desire without any boundaries or decency or human rights.

Where a political and human rights system has not evolved since settlement so as not to upset the wealthy and corporate moguls and none on either side of the isle having the guts to change even though their society is burning down around them.

So what chance has these strong women got for what is regarded as normal in any civilised society? My guess little without international pressure.

International pressure that would see their federations sanctioned by FIFA nations, cutting their subsidies, releasing their female players from international restraints on who they represent and USA citizenship no longer a currency in a players right to earn a living and right of recall.

We cannot as a football family allow inequality and when it’s exposed it must be acted on. We cannot allow the current thousands of young girls who are as passionate as us be treated as inferior in that environment and we all can play a part by boycotting the companies that support the managements that fail in their duty and support equality in the Women’s Game all over the world, not only America.

The game is bigger that the men with the small balls, and the fathers who accept their youngster is inferior in any way and do absolutely nothing.

At 70yo with the Power of Invisibility

Well I am blessed to be able to sit and write this little ditty as a few of my mates have not been so lucky and left the stage.

Over my life I have not stayed inside any bubble for any great length of time in my work life therefor my social experiences have been as expansive yet as my son grew up my “street wise” credentials have expanded even further. That’s not a reflection on him its a reflection on our parental interest never failed him and like all kids he had to make his own way and I think we gave him that freedom. He was not in our bubble but knew where home was to clarify the point.

The reason I started on this is I am so thankful that I was introduced to what the younger set were thinking, and being a baby boomer we thought we knew the ropes and I /we discovered their were different ropes. Times change and we the old farts have to adjust.

Yes ADJUST, learn and let go and learn again.

Many of my age played the too old or don’t want to card and expected the world to feel sorry or adjust to them, be it business practices, technology, travel even basic shopping they played the victim card not realising it was their choice in the majority of cases so as time progressed that victim card turned into well get onboard and stop the poor me shit.

Personally I’m a self taught bloke, very fortunate to be involved in the biggest technology shift in the world at the leading edge. Thanks to PMG, Telecom Australia , Telstra i was involved in watching learning and partaking in changing the nations communication systems from open wire to fibre.

That knowledge sits with me today as vivid as it was when it happened as it was just exciting to be part and to grasp the knowledge so you could progress to the next level, be it physically and professionally.

I watched my initial trade Boilermaking progress in equipment, techniques but the 4 pound hammer is still a basic requirement. I left for my good and my family’s future taking a massive wage cut to gain security. The punt worked in so many ways I no regrets.

Then it was the Retail phase where we went into the family business, and lived out of the till. My/our decisions, and that was a necessary step we felt at the time. A great experience I don’t regret but it was a tough teacher.

Throw in cab driving, fruit and vegetable at the markets, car detailing, football coaching semi professional, leaves me I feel with reasonable credentials to in my older phase to look where we are, and where I fit.

It seems the older you get the more invisible you are to the busy or self indulged.

Self indulgement was a blessing we never claimed in my set but it was part of the elite lifestyle we never aspired to join for the fear of loosing real friends. Many tried and never has the breeding, and realised it was a inbred thing as it still is today.

Back to our secret power of invisibility we can talk at gatherings and be ignored, stand in line at the shop and people talk past you, say hello or make eye contact and people turn their head, offer advice and help from actual experience to absolute Fuckwitts and be looked at like a dog turd.

Such is life as older human who should be parked up out of sight out of mind.

No I’m not bitter I’m amazed and question myself strongly if I was that discourteous to my elders.. I question that daily. I often disagreed as I did question, but never ignored out of respect.

We old farts are guilty of our own destiny too as many especially in retirement cannot let go of their past and try to remain in roles of importance after retirement, not to the benefit of the organisation but for self importance and relativity.

All good but comes a time for the good of that organisation you have to stand aside a become a mere mortal.

An autocrats nightmare I know but that attitude does nothing for the elder reputation overall, and dare I suggest successive planning.

What a stupid idea is that… “look at me, I’m a senior citizen and there no-one to take my place”, without thinking its you job in reality to find and train people to do your job for the good of the organisation you represent.

Ego won’t allow that too many.

Yes it happens and happening in your bubble. Just look.

Well I’ve calmed down a bit, taken by blood pressure and I’m good to go. So what about the present me?

After being in positions of captain and presidents of football and golf clubs and being active in a playing only capacity for about 5 years I had to stop because of oxygen, or lack of.

Asbestos is not you friend so of late I’ve been asked if I want to help with the golf club Pennants side and I will do the job as I always have in a business like perspective. Results are a priority then comes the social aspect as it costs the club business to compete even though the players are amateur.

All of my “volunteer” roles have been based on the same princiopal which some find it hard to comprehend. That’s my business brain at work and it has cost me friends as they can’t grasp business outside the kitchen table wanna be professionals who have never moved outside their bubble, but know the power point presentations by heart.

Sister too has moved back into the workforce and I admire anyone regardless of age steps into the unknown and challenges themselves outside their bubble.

Pop that bubble and you will see life outside, but be prepared for some push back from those who have taken you for granted, or scared to move outside theirs, directly and indirectly, and be prepared to be challenged. You have no status other than your clipboard even though you may have a title bestowed.

It’s a test of your Basic skills not the ones you may have acquired in your former career.

In closing for now I was pleasantly surprised when a young person asked me if they could contact me for advice in a new role , so my superpower of invisibility is penatratable to some who actually want to converse to another human in a most unfashionable way face to face. Let’s see if that eventuates..

Bye for now, and if I’m still up i’ll be back oxygen permitting..

Murdock Butchers our Local Newspapers

For those who are not so News aware the Murdock Press has made the decision to cease all hard copy news papers to the regional and country areas across Australia and go digital.

This action in effect sends the little and older generations into news darkness as many have no IT or basic computer knowledge.

This may have been self inflicted by some granted as they refused to grow with the times and others unable to grow due to educational limits.

With all that’s said, the facts are people will loose the fabric that binds smaller communities together, a lifestyle that is incomprehensible to the self centred generations living their little boxes with make believe acquaintances online, many unable to communicate face or face let alone read and comprehend a news article.

A bit savage you may think? Yes but truthful and if you need proof, spend a hour or two on a polling booth and see humanity in its raw form doing something that should effect their lives and their family’s.

You will be amazed at the ignorance not only of the political systems but of general manners expected of a human being.

That said as true to form as you can get from Murdock the said they’d keep regional and small papers on takeover from APN and they lied, nothing new again from these bottom feeders of toxic text, and they will expect you to buy the Courier Mail if you want a hands on paper which in fact is nothing more than a LNP newsletter as I have stated many times and subedited out or simply consigned to the junk mail.

Truth and Murdock should never be put in the same sentence, as you now know from their actions.

In my case my editorial days may be limited as many times before my View does not sit with the owners ideology and I have been extremely lucky to have a editor who still feels balanced reporting is a key factor in a democracy, but like the QT she too is moving and many of the contributors may join me in the junk mail due to our views clashing with the owners ideology also.

That’s life but it does not help those who have been thrown into darkness, those businesses who’s adds were accessible freely will not have a presence of picking up a paper, the sporting body who wants any press to help them survive, the cocky who wants the cattle prices, the auctioneer, the church, the garage sale, and you can go on all gone to the iPad or smart phone of the fortunate.

To be honest I’m looking at community radio as a service, not a competitive entity but NFP (non for profit) organisation and any other media stream APP to try and compensate the losses, and any ideas please fill in at the bottom of this blog. Also Periscope the live App has been mentioned.

And I cannot close without mentioning the silence of the Hanson’s, the Katters, the Nationals all supposed to represent country people but obviously terrified to upset their puppet master Murdock, their absolute silence says why we as a nation need to govern ourselves for ourselves not run the agenda of a non tax paying overseas jerk , but not one of the conservatives have the guts to call him out. Political Harlots. All looking for that headline from Rupert.

Raelene Castle’s Professionalisms To High for the White Ants.

Well the old boys club of rugby will be back slapping over their glass of port and a cigar in the men’s club around the country.

They got their scalp. Who in their right mind would put a women in a position, a New Zealand women in charge even though the game was In free fall before she come to the desk.

Not only that the club did a Gillard on her, lambasting her personal appearance disregarding he medical condition, the lowest one can go but it didn’t deter the commentators all with their own agendas of keeping power in the halls of power in NSW and keeping their jobs on Fox.

So what did she do wrong? She stood up against discrimination, she stood up for a competitive broadcasting terms, and with limited funds attempted to get the second tier competitive, but not good enough.

This is not about Australian Rugby progressing it’s about power and be assured the Fox Commentators, the ones that white anted her continually will just happen to get the leather seats and head in the trough.

No wonder Australian sport fails internationally, we think we have all the answers, but we read our own press and believe it, and if anyone points that out their regarded some sort of traitor.

We are the laughing stock of the professionals overseas, because we don’t behave like professionals because it’s too hard for us to accept that because you won once does not make you a authority on all knowledge, that knowledge on the field and off.

Mrs Castle is a professional and standing down and her exit demonstrated that to us who appreciate the heat in the kitchen will leave with a credible history, one that none of the misogynistic contenders has and never will.

Do the Hard Yards early on Covid_19

As Aussie’s we all have a responsibility to be responsible and look after each other.

Yeah I thought that when I went to the polls and then greed and self interest reigned so can we trust ourselves in regards to containment of the covid_19?

That’s a question we all need to ask. I’ve sat and listened to people who think this situation is a hoax, I’ve seen it lambasted in cartoons on social media, and I’ve seen our leaders be more concerned about the economic consequences forgetting totally about a national approach across the board direction on a strategy to fight this plague.

It’s been one big duck shove from Federal to State on making decisions on what to do, leaving it to organisers or owners to make decisions and politicians are bouncing off the walls not wanting to loose some sort of political standing.

Don’t answer questions, or answer questions that were not asked so as to stick with the the days narrative.

This is not a game and we may have to be what the Chinese have done and force lockdowns as that strategy is being seen to have succeeded.

Secondly tell me anyone who believes America has prepared itself under Trump and why they should not be on the banned countries entering Australia?

They refused Trump that is to acknowledge its devastating potential until this week, months behind the curve and now its beyond control inside their borders and like Italy we need to act that is if our PM has our country at heart by not angering his political clone.

Yes I am in the target zone and I do have a stake in this, and it’s up to me and my friends to do the right thing by each other asks all of us, but if we do the hard yards early I reckon we will win sooner than later.

In the Know, You Got the Dough from Scotty from Marketing.

Over my time involved in the Not For Profit (NFP) organisation’s I am well aware of the pains and hoops the members and supporters have to do to get support from either Federal or State governments and no doubt it helps to have support from your elected member but once that process is completed we all expect each and every application to be judged on equal merit because politics and sport should not be mixed.

That was the case until of late when Scotty from Marketing come on the scene with his slogans, but unfortunately like all things they have a expiry date.

You know “Have a Go the Get a Go” now has morphed in this case to “If you in the Know you get the Dough” and I could go on but really my issue is about all the little clubs who need basics like sprinklers, disability handrails, general repairs small ticket items to help the little organisations who are struggling to survive overlooked and funds given to organisations with massive turnovers or high end exclusive paying memberships taking 6 figure sums out of the pool.

I have no doubt those funds will be used legally but those exact funds spread lightly across the entire spectrum would have a better impact.

Sorry if that sounds to some like a Socialist point of view but if I was a elected member I would rather all my constituents had a bit that only the selected got all, but like all political landscapes there are winners and looses, and its always the little people who loose.

To me if their was ever a case for a Federal ICAC this is it. Australians love sport and fair play, and this is not within our code of sporting ethics and to those who repeat consistently the Sandpit Response of “They All Do It” is a cop out if we want our kids regardless of demographic be given a fair go regardless of who is in government.

Our Sporting Tide is Out.

Sporting Junkie, yep that’s me. A football tragic since 11 years old but have followers all the other codes and sports especially when they put on the green and gold,

The fact I have been involved in the world game and watched for my own benefit how nations prepare and perform in World Cups I struggle with how we Australians at times get it so wrong.

Most nations have a automatic review at the end of each Cup and after a celebration or commiserations the management’s and players hand in their shirts, and the process for the next 4 years commence within a month. (The top tier commence before the cup and appointments are within that month as the process is expected.).

We sacked two coaches in football women’s and men’s and installed one stand in and one new coach months out, and in the rugby reviewed a coach appointed him, knowing full well it was going to fail as the world knew when we went to the toilet.

Our Football and Rugby administrators need to hand in their shirts as well full stop.

We need to look at our international codes with a world perspectives.and ask ourselves how are we going to be competitive, and how do other Nations maintain their standards.

In my mind our parochialism in management is toxicand infects the backbone of the codes. We should encourage and welcome overseas appointments of the highest standards and learn the trade from a different prospective. Our culture will have to change over time and in the past it’s got just too hard not only for the players but the media and they have driven them out, especially when the media loose the dressing room key.

Again I’m seeing calls for a Aussie coach for the wallabies hours after being belted and loosing world rankings. Media attacking the kiwi Rayleighne Castle for asking hard questions when she knew when she was outvoted retaining Cheika we were not up to standard..

I’m tired of listening to the commentary from “The older we get the Better we were” brigade on out TV’s and outlets and in fairness I’m seeing Academies emerging but those institutions must have the worlds best practices and personal leading the way or we will always be also rans or a wanna bee nation on the world stage.

Follow the Money.

Again we hear and see America do its best to show the world what not to do in regards to its gun laws but more importantly the acceptance and its ability con its people that one day all will be well and trust us to fix it.

They have successfully dumbed down its population to accept the fact death can come any where any time and its up to you as an individual to protect yourself and family as government find the issue just too hard.

This apathy spreads and I too am not as shocked or incensed today as I was say when Sandy Hook happened so we can assume we too are being dumbed down and that should never occur.

Blame is important and strategic and the gun lobby and its puppets are playing the people the same song after every massacre and anyone who challenges it will never be elevated to a position of influence.

So could this happen here?

We have stricter laws yes but we have the same influences pushing and prodding our politicians to relax them and it would not take much to dilute the legislation in our present political kindergarten where self promoting trade offs are more valued than the national interest.

Personally I feel if limited donations to all political parties and prospective parliamentarians and made all donations “live” we the punters could see who is attempting to buy influence in real time and we can monitor performance with that knowledge and make judgments accordingly.
