Wayne Offers's Observations, Sometimes Uncomfortable, But That’s Me.
After this period of time now and beyond our world will never be the same.
We will have to have a total reset in Australia after the risk management exercise and we will have to analyse our Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats at a scale never done before.
Our leaders and their performances at all levels plus industry, workers, in fact society will be part of that assessment that is if our politicians put the nation before self interest.
We will, probably demand our leaders have a skill set to move us into the new World that everyone will be looking inward on how they performed in this crisis at all levels of government that is why I feel we should suspend all elections now as the people we elect today may not be the ones with the ability to take us forward in the unknown.
Locally who knows where we will end up, but it won’t be the same. We want people to match the times at the helm and we the punters can’t judge now on a landscape we know will never be the same.
Yes a big call but it’s time for big calls from leaders who have that forward vision and in this case practically must outrank process and I’m sure our public servants should be allowed to continue without the responsibility of holding the hands of the new kids in the sandpit on changeover in a national crisis.
This will upset some who think in the present, but it’s the ones who think past the present are the ones we need in our council chambers.

While we all are under ther pump in the Cov19 spread I recall that when the GFC was in full flight we saw some unscrupulous employers and organisations exploited the situation to attack workers rights and conditions that were never reinstated after the recovery.
Since then our casual workforce has increased to about one third and again its those people who will be the first to feel any repercussion due to containment of the spread.
Watching the Attorney Generals and some government frontbenchers I am convinced they do not get the fact that millions of people live on a day to day week to week basis under their watch and any disruption to their income can be the difference of weather you eat, get medications, or have a roof.
This blasé approach of the blue ties worries me as as we move towards a recession footing, its the most vulnerable the ones on New Start, Pensions, and the casuals that will be overlooked as they will aim any stimulus towards the business sector who will gratefully take it and put it in their pockets, as they have done in all hand outs. No trickle down there.
We have a government that is there by default, they did not plan to win and this virus has just compounded the issue as when the chips are down and money has to be spent on the little people it won’t as it goes against the ideology of good liberalism, and they will do everything possible to ensure that mantra is sustained at all costs regardless of the masses pain.

At last the term Wage Theft is now part of the narrative in Industrial Law but surprise surprise the employer groups are blaming the Awards and conditions are the problem.
Like every single conservative government the first job on election is to adopt a royal commission into unions and do everything to destroy working conditions and what the call “red tape”.
That Red Tape covers safety and building standards, wages and representation of workers and the simple cut disturbing fact the we are loosing at least one worker a week on the job many not game to be represented by unions for the fear of loosing employment let alone challenge award wages.
It seems to be a crime nowadays to have the gumption to challenge for fair wages and conditions in a group, your declared as a militant yet its n been ok for the employers to rip off their employees without any justice other than a tut tut naught boy declaration from the establishment..
Being a former employer it’s totally my responsibility to ensure my employees were paid correctly and I appreciate oversights can occur but the ones who are falling on their swords now are serial thieves over many years.
This Coalition will never respect a persons right of representation by a union on ideological grounds so expecting anything other than a token naughty boy response is about as likely as they are in getting a federal ICAC in place.

No doubt our country is going through a political identity crisis at the present and our political party’s don’t really know who their actual base is as they try to find a space that suits the current climate and suits their factional nemesis’s
Once the proud County Party now the Nationals used to represent the man on the land, the cocky, the producer, now its total focus is running a case for big coal and gas that rips the guts out of agricultural land, contaminates or irradiates underground water surrendering fertile country for the bag of fools gold.
They themselves have created a vacuum that the Greens and other groups with nowhere near the knowledge of the forefathers to fill, all self inflicted.
Amazing diatribe from Allan Jones about coal and climate denial yet the same man led the protest at Aplin against coal expansion. You have to ask who is paying the piper then conveniently forgets or hope we forget.
This country is crying out for leadership on important issues such as climate, mental health, economic certainty for business yet this government and its factions cannot decide what seat they sit in Canberra Parliament, what ideologies to have to suit days narrative, what we expect from Trumpsville but not in a thinking democracy.
If only we thought, listened and questioned more, and actually engaged we the punters could raise the bar if we choose.

Many of us punters we believe that politicians should be accountable, transparent, and have should work for the benefit of the nation regardless of what level. Of government they are elected..
I know I dreamin., but I have had a gut full of politicians refusing to answer questions on anything outside their spin doctors script. We no longer have men and women of character who shake cages inside of their tent.
We have journalists now that run away like scolded children that give up a line of questioning when they should pursue the issue harder and deeper for reasons possibly to do with owners or employers political associations.
So what it that doing to democracy? What is that doing to the credibility of the media profession and it’s role to keep the people informed with balanced reporting and research.?
Once they the media step away and play yes men and women we no longer have a democracy we have a duopoly of left and right proper gander which in fact would suit the ones who wish to have dictatorship over democracy.
This outlet runs its and shame section weekly on Court outcomings so isn’t it time we hold our politicians who refuse to answer questions and revert to blurbs of bull shit when asked simple questions we are entitled to know so that we can judge them and their government or wanna be government with some data. We are not fools and should expose them as overpaid parasite flunkies tied to their ideological peeing posts.
No wonder the youth are moving world wide afters seeing these buffoons perform like bullies in a sand pit.
As we all get our jollies together for big Christmas gig could you please spare a thought for those who are not so fortunate, you know the ones on New Start, the one’s on New Start with disabilities that can’t get off New Start who fail the algorithm test, the returned servicemen who return broken in so many ways and left, the aged, single or deserted parents who I might add are living below the poverty line and in many if not all cases.
No I’m not here to put the guilts on the fortunate but I do ask why have we left so many behind in a such a rich country and why is this part of our society growing?
Im sick to death listening to politicians claiming that the reason they are there because it their own fault, taking drugs, too lazy from their ivory towers while all the time they are putting obstacles in their way which often end tragically in self harm.
Its not beyond some of power to believe natural attrition of these unfortunate category of our society as a part solution.
In other countries, poorer countries the culture is to look after they’re less fortunate and aged, we see them as business overheads that have to be manages as if they are outdated comodities all with prices attached.
There can be no doubt Capitalism in all its forms is failing around the world as the people are revolting, the youth are on the move all realising this trickle down economics is a falasy benefiting the fortunate few as the living with dignity gap widens.
Social Conscious in government today is condemed as left wing propaganda and while that is the case all of our underprivileged will continue to grow and suffer.
Merry Christmas to some, and to others hope you survive.
Since my arrival in the Ipswich area I’ve never seen our society so poor. Maybe I move in different circles than some to notice this but reports I’m getting are more than disturbing.
Organisations like Rosies, Goodna Street Street Life and many others are at the coalface of our demise and seeing people pleading for work as in qt edition today is not now uncommon., as it’s not only the homeless in strife but we are witnessing people struggling to do what they see the right thing by their kids schooling in food barns. Turf wars have broken out with people doing roadside recyclable pick ups, and I’ll leave it to the police data to reveal how older aged people are now becoming easy targets for theft.
Ipswich is not alone with this issue, Toowoomba, Dalby and other smaller towns the problem cannot be hidden anymore, probably magnified by the drought, yet this Federal Government is in denial that real jobs are required and convinced that keeping the masses on part time or short term employment makes builds the economy and profits. This surplus ideology is failing as we speak, the nation is suffering as a result and it doesn’t care.or does not have the ability to turn a economy around. by the bottom up.
I am assure you until we address our struggle street in this town our retailers will struggle and so on up the chain and our history has proven that time and time again.
Another workplace death and ho hum and it hardly raises a eyebrow in today’s all about me society.
To date in 2019 we have lost 67 people nation wide yet in today’s times we we just accept the fact some people will not come home after going to work.
Safety standards across the “hands on” industries are supposed to have improved but standards have eroded as governments have found its politically opportunistic to play the cutting the “red tape” game which is code for dropping standards and proven processes that safeguard not only workplaces and work practices, but has infiltrated into engineering and construction practices.
Not only are we seeing humans lost or under threat we are witnessing buildings falling to pieces, as they rush to finish projects at all costs, walk away and hope it will stay up until after the guarantee has expired.
Once this was unheard of. We had the worlds best tradesmen, not fast tracked but trained fully, and construction watch dogs, checking, monitoring quality workmanship supported by the trade union movement who ensured work place safety all now regarded as “red tape” . We laughed at other countries who treated workers as expendable but now we have joined that fraternity and adopted their work ethical standards.
I do not expect the shiny seat sitters in political power to do anything other that look for more standards to erode, as they and their families will rarely be seen in hi vis other than for media opportunities. They will come home after a tough day in the Parliamentary dining room, but if those militant unions do anything to alter that profit margin by way of looking after the workers they will demonise them and pursue them to their death.
I try to look at election campaigns across the free world objectively and I do hold my own political biases but we must rely on the media to give deliver truth, ethics and that in itself is sometimes is a problem depending on which outlet one chooses to read.
The line between news, opinion then verging on propaganda in this country sadly is mirroring America and this campaign is descending into that gutter by the Murdock press.
We have seen in past elections attacks on PM’s openly saying bag and drown the bitch, burn the witch, and many other slogans prominently splattered across mastheads and now we are sinking into attacks on politicians mothers.
Has Australian politics sunk that far or is it being dragged down by this organisation to keep what it sees as the right people to keep its organisation with a say in how our governments run?
We as Australians deserve better than this rubbish. We should not accept material that an never be described as journalism.
I am well aware this paper is owned by Murdock and it does not reflect its owners, as we do have editors around the country that maintain journalistic standards clearly reported when Palmer Party tried to ethically corrupt.
I’m pretty sure most intelligent Australians will not accept this American style of confronting intimidatory politics and demand balanced reporting, however painful it might be to our egos.
Strategic Sub Editing but the point was not lost, only the culprit hidden. 😂
