Pathetic Planning destroyed Ipswich Retail
When the shoe is on the other foot how quick do we forget the sins of the past.
After seen a once thriving business sector turned into a ghost town by diabolical decisions of incompetence beyond comprehension, I cringe in agony the bleating of the Riverstink owners in regard to the city revamp.
How this company got the go ahead to build where it is on a flood plain, destroy historic heritage still I feel needs to be investigated and the damage those decisions made to existing retailers, many long standing icons of Ipswich business history is clear evidence of why administrators and planners should make valued judgments based on data not councillors.
We saw a thriving city of three major retail outlets with the centre being ipswich city hub fully leased by retailers from the top of town to Queens Park be destroyed in one foul swoop by a stroke of genius equaling that of Frank Spencer.
Then let’s not forget how Riverlink was not to open until the footbridge was completed. Another deal done to accomodate a Developer at the detriment of existing retailers in the mall, and let’s also not forget the effect it had on retail traffic to other lease holders in other centres who saw traffic counts crash as rents went up.
Don’t get me wrong here I bleed for those mum and dad retailers who are paying exorbitant rents trying to make ends meet in a city of ever decreasing disposable income and I sincerely hope when the new centre opens rents will make it more than competitive to entice those type of businesses away from the conglomerates who fleece the small businesses and reward the multi national tenants rent wise.
Our Nation Sinks as Struggle Street Grows.
Since my arrival in the Ipswich area I’ve never seen our society so poor. Maybe I move in different circles than some to notice this but reports I’m getting are more than disturbing.
Organisations like Rosies, Goodna Street Street Life and many others are at the coalface of our demise and seeing people pleading for work as in qt edition today is not now uncommon., as it’s not only the homeless in strife but we are witnessing people struggling to do what they see the right thing by their kids schooling in food barns. Turf wars have broken out with people doing roadside recyclable pick ups, and I’ll leave it to the police data to reveal how older aged people are now becoming easy targets for theft.
Ipswich is not alone with this issue, Toowoomba, Dalby and other smaller towns the problem cannot be hidden anymore, probably magnified by the drought, yet this Federal Government is in denial that real jobs are required and convinced that keeping the masses on part time or short term employment makes builds the economy and profits. This surplus ideology is failing as we speak, the nation is suffering as a result and it doesn’t care.or does not have the ability to turn a economy around. by the bottom up.
I am assure you until we address our struggle street in this town our retailers will struggle and so on up the chain and our history has proven that time and time again.
Ideology Stymies Our Economy.
What’s the point of the Reserve Bank dropping the interest rate and the banks treating the exercise in contempt by not passing it on, and this government says naught.
Every month we go through this ritual that once guided our economy and industry and we have turned it into a platform of reasons to do absolutely nothing other than make excuses for our bad performance.
The simple fact is this government is not supposed to be in government and knew the economy was failing under them and wanted the opposition to inherit their debacle. That strategy failed and now they have no idea other than boast a surplus to get the economy going. Their ideology won’t allow it. Trickle down economics is a failure when there nothing to trickle as business hangs on to its money tighter than ever before as we move towards recession status.
The spin about making new jobs while the employment rate is climbing along with balancing the books with net national debt tripling defies common logic.
Keeping the masses on part time, casual is geared to getting rid of red tape where employers can minimise their responsibilities to super and holiday leave, long service by limiting the hours so those factors are minimal, hence struggle street has have 2 or more jobs to make a survive creating the working poor.
Our economy has stagnated with a government with no vision as the Reserve Banks action reflects, and my biggest fear is when governments run out of ideas internally they look to external triggers like Patriotism and conflict to divert attention away from their failings.
How good is That Scomo ?
We Move into Uncharted Waters..
Today the 25/09/2019 saw a change that may influence the way we think about our politics and leaders.
Boris Johnson was ruled against by the courts on his dissolution pf Parliament in England and making them return to sort out Brexit before the exit date or he goes to the polls.
Where the ball bounces their is so ambiguous, and civil disobedience is a option.
Greta Thunberg nailed the ruling class to the cross on climate and made old men in suits cringe about lack of action and Morrison did not attend the Climate Conference pre UN Meeting. He also sided with Trump over China Trade with will impact on our trade and relations domestically and internationally. We are on the verge of recession and this could push us over.
The Start of Impeachment was commenced by the Congress on Trump.
He also stated in the UN that globalisation is a Failure and the world must embrace Patriotism.
All 3 in my mind will resonate across the world and Trumps poking Iran into conflict as a distraction is not out of the question.
Domestically the Trump Base will mobilise in my view and we will witness open conflict in the American streets and Civil Disobedience verging on War is not out of the question.
Trump will have no issues if his people are injured our killed to keep office home or be it overseas.
I cant see an alternative Leader to replace Trump in the Opposition YET but Trumps VP is possibly more erratic than his boss in particularly social consciousness .
We are in unchartered waters..
The Three Stooge Act now Complete
It would be totally inappropriate to describe what has developed a three stooge act.
The three stooges were a deliberate comedy act but what we have been dealt with is far from a comedy.
The team sheet we have been dealt with could not be less impressive in regards to Trump, Morrison and now Johnson reeks of the toxic masculinity of baseball cap wearing thumbs up, “how good is this” antics of coal hugging ,fish kissing and female groping males who’s skills in schoolyard bullying have amplified in their political careers.
These bozo boys are now in charge of our nations and we must ask how we allowed this to happen. Look at leaders, great leaders regardless of political slant that have gone before. Former men and women had charisma,, intellect, and decorum of whom I will not name as a mark of balanced opinion but stand unchallenged at home and worldwide.
This present crew doesn’t make the reserve bench, and in times when leadership, political astuteness and world financial and military astuteness is critical to world peace none of these come equiped as their focus is on internal political survival and popularity stunts.
I’m sure our competitors Russia ,China, and other merging superpowers are watching on with great interest and looking for opportunities to manipulate the present political players and landscape and I live in hope that other world leaders outside this boys club maintain the standards expected to keep us away from world unrest where no one wins.
Some One Had To Fight.
Another person did not make it home after a days work as the toll rises.
Cast your mind back to when this government was screaming for minister resignations when the pink bats issue was the issue yet the rise under their watch goes unspoken.
Fact is they have to make a decision on who to support. The profit of the coal magnates or the Safety of the Workers.
They cut the red tape on industrial laws and regulations, legislated against union protection deeming it as militant so expecting this government to support the CFMEU in its role to protect workers is beyond its political ethic let alone it moral ethic.
Blame however is not one sided. Union and non union workers too have traded off conditions, hard fought conditions by previous workers for the mighty dollars and here too the chook has come home to roost.
This industry and many others need a reset, but it will take workers to wake up the unions have a extremely important role in making sure the family unit is protected when you go to your place of employment and that is about to be challenged on the floor of Parliament.
No other business or company is required by law to protect people and conditions in their industry without any contribution. Unions have role yet the non members still get the benefits the payers have won. . Fair? You be the judge but remember when your in your lunch room, or on holidays or on sick or compensation or pension some one had to fight for you to have that.
Sorry silly me , it’s all about you in today’s society isn’t it?
It’s All about the $$$ in the Falou case.
I’ve watched, listened, and tried to digest this Falou shenanigans go backward and forwards with little or no retreat from whatever side you choose to hang your allegiance.
Not carrying any religious allegiance other than to the human race I choose to look at the facts from the start and ask the questions, however hard they may be.
Firstly, does a person have the right to follow his or hers own beliefs? Answer Yes.
Does a person have the right to impose those beliefs on any other person ? Answer No.
Religion is a choice a individual makes, nothing more as is the choice to not follow a religious tribe, so judging a person by his or hers decision or point of view is dependant of what tribe you follow or don’t is a bias exercise regardless.
Who’s right and who’s wrong is the story of mankind, but religions do not have a mortgage on being human and believing in the rights and wrongs of hurting each other be with words or actions.
Falou hurt people with words, that’s wrong, full stop. I can’t stand outside a place of worship in the public domain and accuse people of wrong doing because of their belief or sexuality I would get arrested for persecution among other things.
The fact he was warned and then breached that warning cannot be covered up by justifying lack of free speech.. He knew exactly what the repercussions would be so he pressed the boundary and then he played the sympathy vote.
It cannot go unsaid that some still will not accept the Yes Vote in the referendum, and that’s their choice, but I cannot see why a millionaire should be publicly funded by a tax free charity with public funds when I thought a non for profit organisation role was to help the less fortunate. Those donations will also be a tax rebate, so is this entire exercise all about money right from the start?
Aboriginal Heritage Came before the Tragic Train.
As the. Media reels in the tragedy of the Notre Dam fire and records the world shock and pity of the 800 year old structure and artefacts lost or damaged could we please take a step back and look at what we are doing to our 80,000 year Aboriginal heritage and that is challenged daily by nature, bulldozers, selective memory loss or just plain ignorance.
We have the oldest Culture on the planet and its history just within hours to all of us on this island if we choose to accept that fact and although it may not fit with the teachings of some beliefs the artwork and history and authenticity is undeniable.
No one is donating billions of dollars to keep this history let alone recreate it to its former greatness because its destroyed and anything else would be a fake disservice to its creators. Those memories are left with respect to ancestors families to pass on but that does not stop us newer inhabitants from learning, appreciating and respecting.
Its easy copy to look elsewhere and get on the tragic train but can we just take the time to appreciate what we have and preserve what is left. We owe that to mankind all over the world as we are the keepers of history far before any cities, buildings or paintings were created.
The Vegan Dilemma
Many of us in our youth took to the streets if we felt civil protest was the only way to change governments or Legislative powers for the good of living conditions of our fellow workers or democratic rights were challenged.
The vegan protest philosophies however, do not fall into that category in my view and are based on core beliefs on how humans should exist today compared on how we got here over evolution.
To be clear from the onset I am not and never will accept animal cruelty, but we have to accept the fact the food chain exists and right down to the basic kitchen gecko chasing mosquitos to lions chasing gazelle we humans come from carnivores and changing that will never happen, but like all beliefs be it spiritual, political, or society changing we are entitled to have them, even live by them , but we are not entitled to force them upon others in their own homes.
I feel invaded when people turn up wanting to convert me to their beliefs as do many, but that does not stop the right of those people holding them but forcing them by invasion is not the way to go.
I feel deeply in todays world animal experiments should be a thing of the past, our science should have expanded past that age, but we cannot change the way we evolved, agreed not pretty in places but to be brutally honest we as humans do much more damage to each other in daily life physically and mentally on this planet than we do to when we take to survive and maybe that’s where our own back yard would be a good place to start to clean up first.
